Variations of Compact Rectangular Microstrip Antennas Using Defected Ground Plane Structure

The defects in the form of slots have been employed microstrip antenna either on patch or ground plane to yield frequency reduction. However, reported work does not provide any comparative study that highlight upon and cross-polar level reduction achieved using these various shape slot/defects. This paper provides a thorough for different compact variations antennas obtained plane. Amongst all, optimum results are bowtie-shaped slot plane, which offers by 30 dB with 21%. also reveals better against terms kind is available literature thus this novelty present work. An empirical formulation resonant length at fundamental mode shapes slot/defect proposed. calculated them closely matches those simulation.
